What does that mean, "Inspirational Fiction"? To me fiction is inspirational if in some way it causes me to think and examine my life. If when I finish a novel or a story, I feel that I have not only been entertained but have also been given a new perspective or been enlightened in some way, I feel doubly rewarded. Some novels are classics, and will inspire for generations, others are more time based and will only touch a certain group of people. These fictional works are chosen from books I have recently read that I have found not only entertaining, but also inspirational. I hope you do, too.

There is no character that is totally good or totally bad; all the characters are curious mixtures of both, --each totally believable, but unlike any one you've ever met. Codi, the main character struggled with them all. Codi, confused about what direction her life should be going, ends up in the town of her birth, where she begins to put the pieces of her life together. Sad, thought provoking, and entertaining. The issues that the main character had about self-esteem and weight were very familiar to me, and brought back unpleasant memories of my own struggles as a youth. This book is a journey of young woman from adolescence through her thirties, as she battles her demons and finally learns to like and respect herself. Very, very powerful. I Know This Much Is True Wally Lamb's newest book.
